| "Preserving Our Past, Preparing Our Future" |
Welcome to the Eastern Region Historical Society!
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is an organization
rich in history. A history deeply rooted within the struggle for equality and freedom across the African diaspora. It is our
responsibility to ensure the story of SIGMA is passed on to future generations.
At the request of Bro. Director William L. Powell,
Jr., the Eastern Region will begin the task of writing an Eastern Region History Book. The Eastern Region Historical Society
has been created to make that request a reality. When published the book can be used by our members as a tool when presenting
SIGMA to potential members, corporate sponsors and the communities we serve.
We hope to publish
a book that will give our communities a better understanding of the role SIGMA has played, and continues to play,
within our communities.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was
founded at Howard University on January 9, 1914. Our beloved Founders, Bros. A.
Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse and Charles I. Brown,
wanted to start an organization that was "a part of", not "apart from", the community. They believed it is our responsibility
to take all knowledge obtained and bring it back into the community. That belief is ever present in our motto; "Culture
For Service and Service For Humanity".
